Outfit du Jour: The Underdog

I firmly believe in following instincts, whether they be fashion or otherwise. My instincts aren't always right...but they're always there and today mine created this incredibly random outfit. I thrifted this white dress the same night I found my new dresser and though it's incredibly summery and I feel like it needs to be photographed in a field of wild flowers, I've been dying to wear it. So I decided that today was the day. And since I heard that tomorrow we might have flurries, I thought it was finally cold enough to pull out my brown fur coat. This thing is incredibly warm. I wish I could live in it. Anyway, I decided the dress wasn't going to work and I wanted to wear jeans. Since it was incredibly cold in my house, the logical thing to do was to put the jeans on before taking the dress off. I pulled the jeans, looked in the mirror...and something about this struck me. I used to wear skirts over jeans all the time, but never a long flowy peasant dress over flares. I just had to do it. I'm not sure it comes across quite as well in pictures, but I really loved it. It was different enough to pull me out of my rut. This dress has some amazing details. I promise I'll take better photos of that next time but tonight my batteries in my camera died and it just wasn't going to happen. I'm missing pictures of a necklace and my boots, but I'll get them soon. And I finally wore my huge chunky brown boots that I've had forever and haven't worn in at least two or three years.

Jacqueline-I hope you're able to find a coat soon. I've had great luck finding vintage coats in good condition at Goodwills and Salvation Army stores.
