This week, for Two Birds' Inspiration Monday we were asked to take inspiration from a menswear inspired look. I scoured my grandfather's collection of '40s and '50s ties (no, sadly, he doesn't wear them anymore-though I've encouraged it) but I couldn't find one that matched my look. And to be honest, after wearing way too may ties over my band t-shirts in high school, I've kind of shied away from that look for the past several years. Anyway, I have been waiting for the right time to pull this light yellow, short-sleeved dress shirt from my closet. It was handed down to me in the fall, and I just had a feeling that with crop pants it would make a great '50s look. So, today I pulled it out. I threw on some heels (okay...to me, Betseys are not just 'some heels;' they were carefully chosen) and figured it worked...kinda...for menswear? It does to me, anyway. Next time I wear this, I'm definitely pairing it with black Chucks (one item for my high school days that I'm still not over wearing yet.)
I also want to take a minute to thank Claire from Spinning Threads for passing on an awesome blog award to me. It always makes my day when someone lets me know they enjoy my blog-whether it's through an award, following or leaving a comment. Thanks Claire!
